Carvel Watson is picking up where the collective action of the Civil Rights movement of the sixties left off. Watson is fed up with the stagnant state of economic growth within the African-American community. He has composed, and will be initiating a three-fold platform to energize our people.

Watson is using his years as a media consultant to create unique programming, by using the Internet and communications media to combat the complacency of African-Americans, when it comes to buying black. African-centered, historical perspective, economics, and the rebuilding of our communities. African-Americans earned 600 billion in 2003, how many times did that money turn over in our community? Just how much of it did we keep? When will we as a people get tired of making other nationalities rich, while we stay poor? On the other hand, the people who we spend our money with turn this money over 6 or 7 times in their communities, and they keep most of it.

"You have to love Black to buy Black," says Watson a longtime community activist. Watson is producer/director, of Studio II Productions, Inc. for the past 20 years. Studio II Productions is a Philadelphia-based electronic media Production Company.

If we could go back through time, to the 1920s, segregation forced Blacks in Tulsa, Oklahoma to use the services of Black doctors, lawyers and merchants, because of necessity. Blacks created a separate thriving community steeped in nation building. They did this by reciprocating with each other, thus creating a thriving community, which became known as "Black Wall Street." Unfortunately, Black Wall Street was eventually destroyed by envious white mobs, at the height of its success. However, it remains as a shining modern day example of what could happen if we pool our resources by supporting each other.

In the words of the great Malcom, X, "they get richer and richer while we get poorer and poorer." There was a time when we only had to compete with whites for a job, now we are competing with numerous nationalities. By establishing and supporting Black business in our communities, not only will it enrich our livelihood; it will serve as beacon to our youth. African-American children need to see our own people doing business with each other, in our own neighborhoods.

Watson says the detriment lies in the subconscious stigma that makes our children believe that Blacks cannot be business-oriented and successful because they always see others profiting from their community.

"It's time to make a conscientious objective - a collective Black conscious action."

It's time to utilize today's resources to advance tomorrow's legacy. Watson says two websites that are the backbone of his plan. www.blacknewsnet.com and www.blacksbuyingblack.com.

His plan addresses the love and history of our culture as well as the financial standing of our community.

Watson has paired blacknewsnet.com (BNN.com) with his new website blacksbuyingblack.com (BBB.com) BNN.com is a platform for self-expression, historical documentation, and financial news by African/American experts. Watson has produced many historical documentaries like the Richard Allen Story; which tells the remarkable story of the founder of the A.M.E. Bethel Church in the late 1700s and early 1800s in Philadelphia. Also, How African-American Soldiers Won the Civil War, thus preserving the union. These documentaries and others are available on BNN.com.

BBB.com will serve as an online Black Yellow Pages for black consumers and entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs using BBB.com will have a photo, bio and audio/video infomercial link produced about them, showing their service or product 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Most independent "Black businesses can't afford massive advertising campaigns." This new online video directory will allow Black businesses to advertise collectively, reinforcing to consumers, here we are, Buy Black.

Watson envisions Blacks doing better, living better and loving their beautiful ancient African homeland. Having pride in the accomplishments of our great ancestors. Knowing who we are and accepting it. He envisions a day when Blacks once again have our Black Wall Street. "Our ancestors in Africa and the Americans carved out empires," says Watson. "Blacksbuyingblack.com will be our new empire."
